Alisal Recreation Center
Spring 2020 UC Berkeley — advised by David Jaehning
A series of pavilions gather beneath a monumental roof, surrounded by the bucolic landscape of the Salinas Valley. Each elevation reads as a stack of horizontal planes, surrendering to the flatness of the valley floor, while exterior corridors frame picturesque views of the mountain ranges to the east and west. A uniform mute grey concrete materializes all details of the Recreation Center, from the massive post-tensioned slabs of the roof to each precast tile of the facade.
